Hello from the Forward Data Lab at CS @ University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and Cazoodle Inc. Hanoi !
We are looking for undergraduate (BS) or graduate (MS) students for research internships in data mining/machine learning, database, and information retrieval. You will join a research project, work online, and be mentored by Professor Kevin Chang and senior graduate students at UIUC.
You are expected to commit 10 hours/week with a pay of $5/hour. The positions are open for Spring 2021 and expected to renew for Summer and Fall 2021. We encourage long term
commitment to pursue research in depth and aim for publications in top tier conferences.

Project Description: Knowledge discovery from large scale text data. We are building next generation search services to help users explore data and acquire knowledge. We will organize a corpus of text data (e.g., Web, social media, or scientific/technical literature) by extracting and profiling entities, relations, and concepts, and develop an effective search facility to support data exploration and knowledge acquisition.

Ideal Candidates: You are interested in data— efficiency or effectiveness of using data. You
have learned information retrieval, data mining/machine learning, and/or databases. You have
development/research experience in large scale data processing, analysis, and mining. You are
passionate about developing new technologies and curious for creating new knowledge. You are
planning to pursue research (graduate school) or advanced development as a future career. You
can communicate well in English.
Collaboration: The project is collaboration between Forward Data Lab at UIUC and Cazoodle
Inc. Hanoi, led by Professor Kevin Chang.
